This pair of small chests are in the best condition I've ever seen furniture this old. The door panels have carved inserts that make them easy to pick up and slide off. The hand painting on the front at the door panels is a vase with four season flowers. Vase in Chinese sounds like "ping" shares a same pronunciation with the word "ping-an" that mean well and peaceful, and has been used in auspicious pattern. The framework and the background of cabinet were decorated with the pattern of twilled *wen".
The bottom of the door panel are arranged like a set of Matched painting" with the horizontal panel, and depicts with the feature of bat, crane and the object of antiquities. The flush panel doors are fitted with pivot hinges that slide out as previously noted and there is no central stile.
This beautiful cabinet had survived very intact along with its original lacquer and gilt.
