The Meishan pig is an ancient, medium-sized Chinese heritage breed known for its docile temperament, large litters, and high-quality, marbled meat. Originating from the Taihu region, they are characterized by large drooping ears, wrinkled black skin, and a quiet nature, making them easy to manage and popular for homesteads and gourmet pork. They are a prolific, lard-type hog, prized for their succulent, micro-marbled pork and superior fat quality, often called the "Kobe beef of pork".
