These jobs are available with a 3 month probationary period, with the opportunity for team members to be hired on as full-time, year-round staff. Hours posted are estimates, and not guaranteed due to fluctuations in crop availability, customer demand, weather and continued uncertainty with market conditions due to covid-19. We will do our best to provide consistent employment for our team members, with the expectation that team members understand the nature of farming is not a 9-5 set schedule.
Organic Vegetable Picker, Packer & Field Crew - approximately 50hrs per week or more during the high season and 40hrs per week during the low season
Monday - Saturday start at 7:30 am
Compensation: $10/hr to train. Promotion to $11.71/hr when you demonstrate a similar productivity and skill set of experienced team members. Higher wages available if you have commercial harvesting experience and demonstrate efficiency and quality.
Technique: Pickers will harvest, plant and care for vegetable crops according to specifications and record their work digitally using a tablet or computer onsite. Pickers will need to be able to meet professional rates to advance beyond the training rate. Examples of rates of our common crops: collard greens 50-60bnc/hr, peas and green beans 12-15lbs/ hr (depending on variety). This is a physically demanding job requiring working outdoors with attention to detail, requiring stoop work/bending and repetitive motion with your hands.
Packers will clean and pack vegetables and other products according to specifications. Packers will need to be able to record their work digitally using a tablet, work outdoors (non air conditioned space), work quickly and accurately with your hands and referring to written/digital instructions and packing lists, use a scale, do basic math, and communicate issues with team members to solve problems.
Additional opportunities include work at farmers markets, quality control, and/or delivery driving with pay incentives. Candidates that are successful at this position will have the opportunity to participate in our farm incubator where you can manage your own half to one acre of land and sell products through our existing marketing channels.
Candidates for Picker or Packer must be able to:
Demonstrate an attention to detail in all work capacities (training, record keeping, communication).
Effectively and quickly do hand labor, including working safely with knives and clippers as needed - fine motor skills needed.
Prepare and pace themselves to work outdoors including proper clothing, hydration, nutrition and rest.
Demonstrate capacity to use a tablet, computer or smartphone for digital record keeping and accurately enter numbers on a spreadsheet.
Lift up to 50lbs at a time safely, efficiently perform repetitive tasks, and work outside in inclement weather (rain/wind/heat/cold).
Work in a Bilingual English/Spanish environment and demonstrate respect for people of different cultures.
Arrive reliably to work on-time, as scheduled. Valid driver's license preferred but not required.
Able to work all day in a tobacco-free workplace, no tobacco products are allowed to be consumed on-site.
Follow safe food handling training.
Complete a background check prior to beginning work.
Delivery Route Drivers - Training at $13.50/hr and advancing to $14.50/hr when training complete; + IRS mileage reimbursement for loaded miles (when using own vehicle)
The goal of this position is to safely and accurately deliver produce, while providing excellent customer service. Your mission is to bring a smile to customers’ faces, and help people eat healthy food all over the state. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, have a high energy level, be detail oriented, non-tobacco user, and be motivated to provide excellent customer service.
Candidates must be able to:
Represent Frog Song Organics in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
Communicate about any issues needing follow up during the route
Operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with all traffic laws and to avoid personal injury or property damage, and to protect cargo.
Check vehicles for basic safety features before operating: lights, tire pressure, oil and fluid levels.
Follow routes and adjust to road conditions to meet customers’ delivery windows.
Load orders in a manner that will facilitate your route and easy unloading.
Maintain a valid State of Florida drivers license.
Rent / or drive a rental vehicle if needed (must be at least 21 years old due to insurance requirements)
Demonstrate at least five years of safe driving history and complete a background check
Pay attention to detail and accurately use route sheets and order label information to load and deliver boxes.
Use a smart phone/GPS for effective communication & navigation
Work for up to 12 hours in a day
Bend, lift up to 50 pounds safely, and get in and out of a truck
Work in a bilingual/multicultural environment, Spanish speaking is a plus!
