Educational Info:
There are several reasons why your RV Roof will leak. The number one reason is cracked caulking around the fixtures and seams.
The sun causes your roof caulking to crack over time. This let's water in. You may not actually see water coming into the cabin area of your RV when it leaks. Water is being held above your head in the insulation compartment. This means plywood is swelling, framework is rotting out or rusting, delamination is happening everywhere there is an adhesive, wall and ceiling panels are growing soft and mold spores are multiplying.
To keep an RV waterproof, owners must constantly add new LAP sealant caulking over cracked areas on the roof in a never ending battle with the sun. Most do-it-yourself attempts fail when the wrong kind of caulking is used or the surface isn't preped right. And then it still leaks.
The other big issue is the membrane itself. EPDM rubber membranes oxidize over time and loose their white textured surface.
